Introduction.

It is not possible to say exactly when Foxlow Coach House was originally built but it is at least two hundred years old. Although renovated in 2013 it retains some quirks such as steps where they might not normally be expected. It also retains some original features such as beams and trusses in the upstairs rooms.

Situated just over a mile from Buxton town centre, it is in a quiet location, set back from the road about 50 metres down a private gravelled lane leading to only three other houses.

There are two guest rooms available, both on the first floor and accessed only by stairs.

The property is double glazed and centrally heated. It is fitted with a wireless radio fire alarm system, which is audible only.

This access statement can be made available in large print on request.

Arrival and car parking.

Normal check-in time is between 4.00 pm – 7.00 pm but, with prior discussion, it may be possible to make arrangements outside these times.

There is free off road parking for up to 4 cars; this is accessed down the unlit gravelled lane off Harpur Hill Road. The gravelled parking area itself is lit, as is the level paved area leading to the front door.

Assistance with luggage will be offered, you will be shown to your room and the facilities will be explained to you.

You will also be given a key to the front door as well as to your room.

Main entrance.

There is both a door bell and a door knocker at the front door but use of the doorbell is recommended as it is louder. Access to the house is up one step into a stone paved porch, and then down one step into the hallway. There is seating in the porch to allow for removal of shoes and muddy boots which can then be stored on the boot rack.

Hallway and stairs.

The hallway and stairs are carpeted; there are 8 steps up to a half landing and then a further 4 steps up to the first floor. There is one bannister rail on the stairs.

Lounge and bedrooms.

The stairs lead directly into the open plan lounge which is also carpeted. There is a raised inglenook fireplace at the far end, with a gas fire having the appearance of a log burner, and there are also three radiators. There are two large comfortable sofas, coffee tables and a bookcase. Guests are welcome to borrow any of these books, or swap them for ones they have finished with.

From the top of the stairs there is one step up into the double bedroom. The bedroom and walk-in wardrobe are fully carpeted, the en-suite shower room has vinyl flooring. The bed is accessible from both sides.

From the top of the stairs there are a further three steps up into the superking/twin room, which is also carpeted, and a step down into the en-suite shower room. The beds, whether used as twins or a superking, are accessible from both sides.

Dining room.

This is at the bottom of the stairs, with a step down into it. As with the rest of the house, this is carpeted. Breakfast is served at the single large table.

Toilets.

Each bedroom has its own toilet.

Garden.

There is a large lawned garden at the back of the house and this is accessed up a slight gravelled incline from the parking area. Seating is available. Please note that the path which goes directly round the perimeter of the back of the house can be very slippery and guests are requested not to use it.

There is also a winding path through the trees at the front of the house which leads to the road.

Bike storage/cleaning.

There is a tap at the front of the house and a hose can be made available if bikes need washing down. Bikes can be stored in the lockable shed which is in the back garden.
